Fun With Pets is an excellent introduction to reading. The stories are correlated with the phonics sounds that are presented in class, beginning with one-vowel (emphasizing one vowel at a time) and then progressing to two-vowel words. Your first graders will be thrilled with how rapidly they are able to move through this first reader and on to more. WIth your helpful guidance, the children should look forward to reading class and seek extra reading activities. They will steadily grow in their love of reading. The following Christian virtues and character traits are incorporated in the stories: cheerfulness, cleanliness, diligence, forgiveness, friendship, helpfulness, industry, kindness, obedience, persistence, responsibility, and thankfulness.
