Avishai Cohen's Triveni is an ensemble tailor made for its leader, running freely in the realms of hard-bop, straight-up funk, and avant-garde. Triveni, Sanskrit for "meeting point of three sacred rivers" is a true musical collaboration with ideas flowing fluently between Nasheet Waits (Drums), Omer Avital (Bass) and Cohen as they effortlessly move from the American songbook to standards and Cohen's original compositions. Cohen's playing has never sound so assured as he continues to establish himself as one of his generation's leading voices on the trumpet.
