Helichrysum Bracteatum (Rose) - Strawflower, is a stout perennial native to Australia. In most areas of the U.S., it is grown as a summer annual. The 36 - 40 inch tall plants have 5 inch long oblong-lanceolate leaves. Strawflowers are great for cutting. Use them in fresh or dried arrangements. The dried flowers a great additions to everlasting bouquets. Grow the plants in full sun and in a well drained soil mix. Plants should be well watered and allowed to dry before watering again. During the spring and summer months, fertilize the plants monthly with a balanced fertilizer diluted to 1/2 the strength recommended on the label. If some of the blooms are left, it will re-seed itself for another year.
