Mainers enjoy the simple life. The state motto is Maine - The Way Life Should Be, and most Mainers believe that completely. They speak with a strange accent, they hunt, they fish, some live without indoor plumbing, and most wouldn’t have it any other way.
Lettahs From Maine is a humorous collection of fifty fictional letters from a simple Mainer to his brother in Florida. The letters, written in very strong Maine dialect, cover the years 1976-2000 and touch on events occurring during those years, such as Elvis Presley’s death and the Star Wars movies, from the Mainer’s perspective. They also describe his comical interaction with friends and family- from the wild sister who wants to leave Maine because it is too backwards, to the disappointment of a son who doesn’t enjoy hunting and fishing.
