Picea bicolor 'Howell's Dwarf Tigertail Spruce' ('Howell's Dwarf Tigertail Spruce') * Full sun-Part shade * Zones 4-8 * 8-10' tall * 5' wide * Highly sought after by collectors! The most colorful of all bicolors! 'Howell's Dwarf Tigertail Spruce' is the most colorful of all the bicolors it has a unique color combination with bright silver-blue on the undersides of the needles and green on top. It is an attractive Hardy dwarf conifer that forms a mound, which can be kept this way by pruning upward growing shoots. If the central leader is left alone, a pyramidal tree will eventually form. An especially attractive feature of this tree is the reddish-purple cones that appear on trees in the spring. Companion Plants: Goes well with Pinus parviflora 'Glauca', Vanderwolf's Pyramid Pine, Thunderhead Pine as well as Black Bamboo. Check out our store for these great plants!
