Stella's kite slips from her grip and flies away without her. It's retrieved on a distant hilltop where Sam learns the kite's aspirations to fly to the coast. To help the kite fulfill its dream, Stella and Sam set off on a journey to ocean by way of the meandering stream. The kids and the kite become separated along the way, but thanks to a trail of string, they're able to track down the kite whose dream has come true.
