These cartridges, although intended to be sold with new printers, make an excellent choice for replacement cartridges. The black initial cartridge contains three times the amount of ink as a standard capacity black cartridge but costs about the same. (Color initial cartridges have five times the amount of ink!) The reason they contain significantly more ink is because a new printer consumes about 65% of the ink from initial cartridges during the one time setup process. The remainder of the ink is then used for printing. When using these cartridges as a replacement cartridges the printer will use 100% of the ink for printing.
