Product Review
KALE WHITE RUSSIAN is an heirloom all-time favorite kale variety. The seeds develop unique, frosty blue-green with slightly scalloped leaves on extremely vigorous plants. It is the most cold - hardy kale, growing well in flooded or soggy soils. This kale is excellent for cold rainy winters or springs. Our kale seed is certified organic and non-GMO. SOWING: If you're planting during the cool season, find a spot where your kale will receive full sunshine. If you are planting during the warm season, or in a warmer climate, plant kale in partial shade. If you're going to be using kale on a regular basis, you'll want to have at least 3 - 4 plants per household member. In pots 6 inches or larger, plant seeds ½" deep, or direct sow in the garden late winter-early spring, starting 2 to 4 weeks before the last frost date or as soon as the ground can be worked. For Fall harvest, sow seeds in August. Established large plants (50 days) benefit from light frosts. White Russian Kale is sweeter when the plants are exposed to a light frost or two. Or it can be grown as baby kale picked as early as 21 days from sowing date. Before using your harvested kale in salads or cooked recipes, give them a massage. With ribs removed, rub the leaves together and then repeat. The leaves darken and become silky. This simple technique removes any bitterness. WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE: a white envelope with rendering/description of vegetable on front. Inside the sealed envelop, the seeds are secured in a clear zipped up plastic bag.
