Alps is a stunningly original investigation into the process of mourning from Oscar -nominated director Yoro's Lanthimos (The Favorite, The Lobster, Dogtooth). An oddball quartet forms a secret society that sets out to ease the grieving process. For a fee they will act the part of a deceased family member—learning their hobbies and eccentricities—in order to help the customer process their loss. But when the nurse known as Monte Rosa (Angelika Papoulis, Dogtooth) begins to form more intense bonds with her customers, the “Alps” project spirals out of control into violence and confusion. Winner of the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice Film Festival, Alps once again proves that Lanthimos is one of the most talented and provocative filmmakers working today.
