Each of the 31 devotions is geared for use in the meeting environment, whether it be for church, school, work or in committees. The devotions address both Law and Gospel and are intended to focus attention on work for God's kingdom.

Devotions are divided into three sections: The first section is based on "meetings" between God and His people as recorded in Genesis and carries out the theme of believers conducting God's business in an unbelieving world. Section two covers meetings throughout the church year with themes for specific seasons. The final section includes devotions on a variety of topics or issues that a meeting might address such as finances, farewells, unity, decision-making, etc.

These devotions are based on both Old and New Testament passages and conclude with a suitable prayer.
