Renowned doll historian, collector, and author Mildred Seeley wrote her 20th book at the request of her husband and children. The resulting volume is the first all-encompassing study made of the unique, small children dolls and figures made entirely of bisque This book is primarily photos of dolls with supporting text of explanatory and historical facts.

Several major collectors of all-bisque dolls contributed their collections to Mrs. Seeley for the purpose of producing as complete a history as possible. The author has kept in mind the needs of both collectors and reproduction doll makers to understand and appreciate the qualities of such a large compilation of original works.
