John Charles Ryle (1816-1900), the first Bishop of Liverpool. Ryle was a strong supporter of the evangelical school and a critic of Ritualism. He was a writer, pastor and an evangelical preacher. Practical Religion is clear, concise and penetrating. This present volume contains a series of papers about “practical religion” and treats of the daily duties, dangers, experience, and privileges of all who profess and call themselves true Christians. By practical religion Ryle does not mean a religion of works, but one in which those who are saved can put their faith into practice. This is a must read from John Ryle's who was according to C.H. Spurgeon's consideration of that period, "the best man in the Church of England."
