Step Up to Writing is a flexible, strategy-based program that explicitly connects reading and writing to build a common language of literacy and increase proficiency across grade levels and content areas. While many programs teach what to write, Step Up to Writing's hands-on approach teaches HOW to write. Step Up to Writing engages students in the writing process, providing practice with expository and narrative writing commonly requested in classroom assignments and on standardized tests. Extensive modeling, guided practice, and independent practice improve writing, reading comprehension, vocabulary, note-taking, and critical thinking skills.
