Although Mark Rothko rejected his works being classified as abstract expressionism, the 12 glowing works in this calendar highlight his use of rich fields of color and show the many faces of shapes that are familiar to us all. Rothko himself described some of his works as moving toward clarity as he combined elements of both Surrealism and Abstract art forms.
