Joining him is a crackerjack supporting cast, including Shirley Jones, Buddy Hackett, and seven-year-old Ron Howard (once TV's Opie and now one of Hollywood's hottest directors). And Meredith Willson's vibrant score, with hits like "Ya Got Trouble," "Till There Was You," "Marian the Librarian" and the unstoppable, untoppable "Seventy-Six Trombones," keeps the merriment marching at a brisk 4/4, all orchestrated to Academy Award-winning effect by Ray Heindorf.
