This video features three stories about Easter from the popular children's series The Busy World of Richard Scarry. In the title story, we learn the Bohemian legend of how Easter eggs began as symbols for spring and renewal. A humble candle-making family is rescued by their preoccupied king. To thank him, the family promises to deliver the most wonderful gift. This is one of the few stories that explain the origin of Easter beyond its religious significance.
The other contemporary stories star the regular Busy World critters. Despite their best efforts, the gang doesn't believe "There Really Is an Easter Bunny." This will soon change. In "Huckle's Feathery Friends," the furry cat adopts some baby birds who are quickly learning the lessons of responsibility. The Scarry stories are handled with care but are too slow for a family viewing. Best for ages 2-8. --Doug Thomas
