Product Review

This disc is part of the best complete series of Prokofiev's piano concertos I have heard. Kun Woo Paik takes on the fearsome Second Concerto, a powerfully expressive and monstrously difficult piece, with fearless abandon. His playing is really thrilling, and Antoni Wit and the orchestra handle their end of things--which is also very difficult--just as well. Then the performers switch gears entirely for the enigmatic, quirky Fifth Concerto, which they perform just as convincingly. It isn't often that performances of this quality show up at such bargain prices, so my advice would be to grab this while you can. Excellent recording, too. --Leslie Gerber
