The first solo album from Soulstice's Gabriel Rene. His grandfather was a New Orleans jazzman, his father was a key member of numerous West Coast jazz combo's. He derives inspiration from classic soul and jazz music that he absorbed as a youth in Southern California in the 1970's. His method of writing music is to emphasize the quality of the song first and foremost, so every track here features a great melody line. Then all the extraneous musical acoutrements were added for a splendid, fresh experience to present listeners. It's organic, electronic, orchestrated and experimental at the same time. "The Pearl" is a testament to Rene's inspired genius and his bright future as well.
