Fifteen-year-old Jack Cambridge (Ryan Merriman) is dealing with the insecurities of adolescence, the divorce of his parents, and a hair-trigger temper inherited from his father. This volatile combination has led to increasingly frequent displays of anti-social behavior and violence. Jack's mother, Sally (Delta Burke), is quick to cover for her son's outbursts and in doing so, unwittingly sets herself up as the perpetrator. Sally soon faces the bitter irony of being suspected of child abuse when in fact her own son is verbally and physically abusing her.
