For some of America's wealthiest families a standard mansion simply would not do. For them, the height of luxury demanded a castle - even if they had to ship one stone by stone from England! See how cosmetics mogul Carl Weeks assembled his Salisbury House from parts of several European manor homes - and filled its 43 rooms with over $3 million of fine furnishings and art, including a collection of Rodin sculptures. Agecroft Hall, a 15th century Lancashire castle, was transported across the Atlantic and re-assembled in 1925. Not content to just have a castle, owner T.C. Williams furnished it with Tudor and Stuart antiques and surrounded it with extensive formal gardens. Watch the incredible process of reconstructing a medieval castle in rare footage of Virginia House, a 12th century British masterpiece. The former home of diplomat Alexander Weddell contains a stunning collection of ancient Greek artifacts and Flemish tapestries.
