Singer/songwriter Sandra McCracken pauses from her normal folk-pop for her fourth album, a (mostly) quiet collection of hymns. Applying her delicate touch to texts reaching back hundreds of years, McCracken nods toward her previous work on the Indelible Grace series while marking a path of her own. Highlights include "I Boast No More," featuring Grammy-nominated and Americana Music Award-winning artist Buddy Miller, and the stunning original "Rock Of Ages (When The Day Seems Long)." Eschewing religious polemic, McCracken's approach is both disarming and refreshing, and the listener is left feeling the album isn't so much a side project as it is an artist taking a deep breath before embarking on the next step in her musical journey.
