While on assignment, Los Angeles based reporter Karina Danes (Minnie Driver) meets Mariela (Ana Claudia Talancon), a rare survivor of one of the vicious attacks taking place on the border town of Cuidad Juarez. During her recovery, Mariela sees visions of the Virgin Mary and experiences the pheonomenon of stigmata. Mariela and her story soon draws a devout following, and her sermons galvanize a public in need of hope. Esai Morales and Angus MacFadyden costar.
