Winner of the Documentary Category for Excellence by the Accolade Competition in La Jolla, CA., also honored by the 2006 Aurora Award - 'Platinum Best in Show' for Sports Related and selected for screening by the NY Independent Film Festival. 1955 - Seven Days of Fall is about the 1955 World Series between the hapless Brooklyn Dodgers and Powerhouse New York Yankees and is based on the poem, 1955 by James T. Crawford.
In unprecedented style, this feature uniquely blends the normal documentary elements of archival film footage, still images, narration, player, fan interviews, period music, and recital of the Crawford's poem to recount one of the most famous sports stories of all time. 1955 is a program about dedication, teamwork, belief in one's self and commitment to achievement against all odds; the story of the Brooklyn Dodgers' only World Championship after 65 years of futility, and of the team's unique connection with the community that so closely identified with it. 1955 is more then a sports story. It is a trip through time to a period in American history like no other. Or as, the documentary's epilogue states: "To believe was to achieve ... back in 1955."
1955 - Seven Days of Fall has been shown on ESPN and PBS stations across the United States. It is written, directed and produced by Rory Fielding, who has won numerous awards for producing many educational shorts for public television.
