The versatile Brooks plays a comedian who takes on a top assignment for the USA: venture into India and Pakistan and use comedy to make the region’s 300-million Muslims like Uncle Sam. (Oops, his bad. He accidentally starts a war in the process.) Brooks proves there’s laugh after death, joining Meryl Streep in Defending Your Life [Side B]. Both have passed on to the afterlife station where they fall in love – and where Brooks must defend his past so he can move on to the next life with his new inamorata. In this world or the next, it’s comedy to die for.
