Mary Anne Evans, better known by her pen name George Eliot, weaves a wonderful tale of love and hope, in this delightful story filled with humour, jealousy and symbolism. Eliot uses her skill to address a range of issues in Silas Marner, from redemptive love and religion to the status of the gentry. Eliot creates a masterful blend of strong story and morality, addressing her own strong views on organized religion and the impact of industrialization in the book, which was one of eight Eliot wrote during her illustrious career.
