Improvise-ONE was recorded in 2003 and showcases Paquito D'Rivera as virtuosic performer and multi-talented composer, as he joins forces with the WDR Big Band, WDR Rundfunkorchester K+-¦ln and Dutch diva Fay Claassen under the baton of Michael Abene. The DVD's opening original, simply titled "Chick," reflects D'Rivera's admiration for colleague and fellow Boosey & Hawkes composer, Chick Corea, whom he views as "one of the best North American composers of all time." "Como Un Bolero" (which could be translated as either "Like a Bolero" or "I eat a Bolero") is also featured. This sensual composition stands out on D'Rivera's Funk Tango, the first release of his new label, which garnered him this year his 9th GRAMMY AwardG+‡""Best Latin Jazz Album."
