This is a 12" long steel rod with 1" of 2-56 threading on one end. A Great Planes nylon clevis is then threaded onto the rod. This clevis snaps to close and has the added advantage of a hex shaped shank to allow a wrench to be used to screw the clevis on and off the rod.
