Probably the best value in compasses is the Polaris. A clear base plate 2"x4" with inch,mm,and 1:24,000 scale makes it easy to read a map, set bearings, and plan a trip. Also the declination correction scale allows you to make quick adjustments of map bearings to field bearings.
