Not All Beta Glucans are the Same The ability of a beta glucan to modulate immune function is related to its specific form. Even slight structural differences can impact the effectiveness of a beta glucan. There are significant differences between beta glucans derived from cereals, yeast and fungi. Beta glucan sources from cereals have a 1,3/1,4 molecular structure and do not support immune modulation. Fungal glucans have a 1,3/1,6 structure but very low concentrations of only 5% to 10%.
