Released the same year as "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid"; this other "little" Robert Redford picture finds the rising star playing a hotshot skier out for Olympic Gold at the expense of his fellow U.S. teammates. Michael Ritchie (who later directed Redford in "The Candidate") offers a convincing character study in a sports movie that often defies genre conventions.
