A collection of 3 films concerning the famous 1939 NY World's Fair in Queens is presented.1-The Middleton Family at the New York World's Fair -color-1939-54 minutes-This film paid for by Westinghouse, shows a typical American family from the heartland visiting their grandma in Huntington, N.Y. as part of a trip to the World's Fair. In addition to Mom and Dad, there's Bud, the 16 year old son who enjoys practical jokes, and his sister Babs, who thinks she's in love with Nicholas Makaroff. Nicholas is an art professor, and our semi-villian as he has some communist theologies, like technology and capitolism are conspiring to repress mankind. Also vying for Bab's attention is handsome Jim Treadway, the pro-capitolism opposite of Nicholas. Jim works at the Westinghouse Pavilion at the fair. Once at the fair, the Middleton's enjoy the sights and sounds of the fair, including the famous Trylon and Perisphere, the time capsule, and of course, the Westinghouse Pavilion, which is home to several exhibits showing the wonders of technology. Of course the best part of the Pavilion is Elektro, the hugh gold robot that talks and even smokes! Amidst all the excitement, can Bab's choose between pro-Westinghouse Jim, and big commie Nick?! What do you think! 2-Rare Visions of The Fair-color-1939-67 minutes-This compilation of rare amateur films will transport you back to 1939. You will see some of the fair's many parades, pavilions, statues, fountains, flowers, exhibits, rides, performances, and of course the many visitors that enjoyed them. 3-Leave It To Roll-oh-black and white-1940-9 minutes. The fantastic household robot of the future, Roll-oh, is the star of this short created for the fair by Chevrolet, to demonstrate the many tiny robots in the modern automobile.
