created to compete. For over-the- water races, the seaplane version
Curtiss R3C-2 was built and equipped with streamlined wooden floats. It won the prestigious Schneider Cup Race in Bay Shore Park, Baltimore, averaging more than 230 mph. The following day, it set a world speed record of 245 mph. This series of Keepsake Ornaments features highly detailed historic aircraft. The number 3 on this seaplane is the same number carried by the R3C-2 in the Schneider race.
