The Drive Thru History American History series takes viewers on fast-paced tours of historical landmarks and illuminates history in an educational and entertaining format. Each DVD contains over 80 minutes of content, interactive menus, discussion guide, and bonus footage. In this set of Drive Thru History adventures, we start in the Big Apple—the one-time capitol of our new nation. First up is the Battle of Long Island, the largest battle of the Revolutionary War. Then, we visit a “Hessian Hut” to see how mercenary soldiers lived in New York. Next is George Washington’s temporary headquarters, one of the most expensive homes in New York at that time. Then we visit Martyrs Monument, which commemorates the POWs that were detained and died on the HMS Jersey. Episode 11 takes us to Wall Street and the location where George Washington was sworn in as president. You will learn about the humble beginnings of the New York stock exchange. Then it’s a road trip upstate to the Saratoga battleground and West Point. Episode 12 takes us to New Jersey, where we start at the site of Washington’s famous crossing of the Delaware.
