The 1985 World Series championship was the crowning moment for the Kansas City Royals franchise. In 1985 the club overcame a late season deficit to win the Division trailed Toronto in the ALCS 3 games to 1 to rally for the pennant and capped the delirious ride with World Series history-making victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. Under the even-keeled guidance of manager Dick Howser and led by veteran stars George Brett Frank White Dan Quisenberry Willie Wilson and the precocious pitching of Bret Saberhagen the Royals persevered and conquered their cross-state opponents.
