Veronica repens, or commonly referred to as Creeping Speedwell, is a perennial, low-growing ground cover that produces masses of light blue little blooms. This Veronica is perfect for the front of the flower border or in-between stepping stones. It is considered to be an alpine plant and will perform at an elevation of up to 7500 feet. Sow Veronica seed indoors 6 - 8 weeks before the last expected frost. Press the seed into the soil but do not cover it. Keep seed moist until germination. With a temperature of 68F, germination is usually within 30 days. Space the plants 8 - 10 inches apart. Grow this perennial in full sun to partial shade and in well-draining soil. Veronica is usually resistant to deer, and it tolerates some light foot traffic.
