This nut is designed to replace broken union nuts on 1.5" Spa heaters. The 2 piece design makes installation easy. This nut will not work on 1.5" heater unions, they require another version of this nut with a smaller flange. This 1.5" Split nut has a flange ID of 1-7/8"
