Mirabilis Jalapa (Four O'Clock Yellow) - Four O'Clock plants are leafy, shrub-like, multi-branched tender perennials that produce flowers all summer long. The plants for from flower seeds and are grow upright with some lateral spreading. Four O'Clock plants typically grow 18 - 36 inches tall and just as wide. The flowers are fragrant and to some people the fragrance is vanilla scented. The flowers are trumpet-shaded and are borne singly or in clusters. The flowers of Mirabilis Jalapa are about an inch across at the end and about two inches long. On a sunny day, the flowers open in the late afternoon (around 4:00) and wilt the next morning. If it is cloudy, the flowers may be open all day long.
