2 of Melt-blown Polypropylene Sediment filters – 20" Big Blue Sediment filter is often the first filter installed in the Whole House Water Filter. Sediment filters are made of fine melted polypropylene, which is then blown and spun in a cylinder-like form. The main function of a sediment filter is to remove large and fine particles from a drinking water, such as sand, dirt, silt and rust particles. Removal of such particles allows for a better performance of all the following filters, such as Carbon Block or GAC filters.

They are usually used as the first stage of a water filtration system to prevent the filters that follow from getting clogged too soon.

The filters are tested by an independent third-party to meet NSF/ANSI standards. They have a capacity of 100,000 gallons of water, enough to supply a family of four with clean water for a full year (depending on your water quality). The 20” x 4.5” filter cartridges have a minimum impact on water flow (up to 15 GPM) and require minimum maintenance.

- Please Note: The cartridges are individually wrapped to ensure freshness. Please unwrap the cartridges before use. Unlike an RO membrane, the filters don’t reduce Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), and instead keeps healthy minerals in your water.
