Fiddle Rhythms takes a whimsical approach to learning and teaching rhythms - using pie as a theme! Each new rhythmic grouping is introduced by using a word that reinforces the rhythm; for example, a grouping of two 8th notes is represented by the word "apple," while a grouping of four 16th notes is "huckleberry," and so on. Familiar musical examples are used to reinforce the rhythmic concepts, getting progressively more difficult as rhythmic ideas are combined. Compound and complex time signatures are introduced. As with Fiddle Magic, the book contains colorful illustrations, and is geared toward young players. By Sally O'Reilly.
