Miniature Elm (Zelkova serrate). The Miniature Elm is a hardy outdoor tree requiring full to partial sun. One of the distinguishing characteristics of the Miniature Elm is the color of the trunk, which ranges from green to gray when at a mature age. The Elm should be periodically thinned to allow light into the inner canopy. During the colder winter months, the Miniature Elm has small, green leaves with a slight, sweet fragrance. In the fall, the leaves change color to a bronze or golden yellow color and the fragrance seems to disappear.
