Cosmos Bipinnatus Sensation (Picotee) - If you are a wildflower purist, then you might not want this hybrid Cosmos flower in your meadow; however, most home gardeners are delighted to have this beauty. Cosmos Picotee is a hybrid of wild cosmos that has beautiful red edges on each petal. Yes, it's just as easy to grow and just as much at home in meadows as its wild cousins of solid color. This cosmos is magnificent, both in the garden or in a vase since cosmos also make great cutflowers. Good draining, medium fertility soil is all that is needed for spectacular plants. Fertilizing often produces lush foliage but few flowers. Somewhat drought tolerant, but watering on a regular basis will produce better fuller plants. Cosmos flowers attracts butterflies and is perfect for back of border, mass plantings. Sow seeds after danger of frost has passed. Lightly cover with soil no more than 1/16 inch and keep moist.
