When creating a lovely naturalized landscape setting, your goal is not necessarily to feed the deer! If you live in an area where deer often visit and enjoy eating your landscape, this wild flower seed mix offers flower species that deer do no usually find palatable. Under normal growing conditions, this mix usually reaches 24 - 48 inches in height. The species in this mix include: Arroyo Lupine, Dwarf 'Pixie Delight' Lupine, Perennial Lupine, California Poppy, Perennial Gaillardia, Zinnia, Yellow Lupine, Corn Poppy, Plains Coreopsis, Tall White Sweet Alyssum, Gloriosa Daisy, Blue Sage, White Yarrow, and Foxglove. Prepare a site by removing weeds and loosening soil. Seed can be broadcast and raked into the soil, covering 2 - 3 times their thickness, or seed can be drilled to a maximum of ¼ inch. This deer resistant mix should be planted in the spring once soil temperature warm to 55F. Seed should stay moist by either rainfall or irrigation until germination occurs.
