UMF® stands for ‘Unique Manuka Factor’, an independant quality measure unique to honey made from the nectar of the Manuka (Leptospermum scoparium) bush, native to New Zealand.  Only select Manuka honey can carry the UMF® trademark, which is highly sought-after.  Every batch of Manuka honey from Comvita is tested by accredited laboratories registered to measure the UMF® level. All batches are assessed by qualified technicians for flavour, colour and aroma.  Comvita guarantees that their Manuka honey is equal to or higher than the UMF® level stated on the jar label.  Comvita’s UMF Manuka Honey contains Non-Peroxide activity which is more potent than ‘Active’ Honeys which only contain Peroxide Activity. It is the Non-Peroxide activity in Comvita’s UMF Manuka honey which contains unique antibacterial properties.
