This special coin commemorates Barksdale Air Force Base (AFB) and all of its "air warriors" for protecting our nation and its global interests with devastating B-52 combat capability and elite combat Airmen. Barksdale AFB is headquarters for the 2nd Bomb Wing, Eighth Air Force. It not only provides continuous combat capability, but trains all B-52 bomber combat crews. The Barksdale Air Force Base challenge coin features that mission, a reproduction of the 2nd Bomb Wing's official patch which shows on the shield a hail of descending bombs, with the scroll "Libertatem Defendimus"-"Liberty We Defend." This handsome coin is highlighted with rich enamels and recessed semi-sandblasted metals. The reverse features the United States Air Force emblem, in classic blue and white.
