This book, originally published in 1994 is by far the best ever published on the subject. In 1996, the People's Daily declared Nicholas Eftimiades "an enemy of the people". Eftimiades makes extensive use of primary and secondary sources including active Chinese Intelligence officers, internal Chinese documents, and publications. His approach is clearly analytical with no unsupported opinions. Even 18 years after publication this work is the only one of its kind. This work remains a "bible" in the US and foreign Intelligence Communities.
