Cleome serrulata, or also known as Rocky Mountain Beeplant, is an annual that grows quickly and blooms heavily. It is considered to be a liberal self-sower. It has large fluffy flower heads that are clusters of smaller flowers. The colors range from shades of pink to lavender. Rocky Mountain Bee plant is a showy wildflower that gives plenty of color to enjoy. This plant is considered to be a medicinal herb, and it is usually resistant to deer. Start the Cleome seed directly outdoors in either the late fall or early spring. The seed benefits from the cold temperatures. When temperatures warm to 65F, germination is usually within 21 days. Press the seed into the soil but do not cover it. Grow Cleome in full sun and moist, well-drained soil. Space the plants 18 inches apart.
