Product Review

The vapor canister vent valve is located on the EVAP canister and is used to seal the canister during startup system check. The solenoid responds to signals from the ECM. When the ECM sends an on signal, the coil in the vent valve is energized. A plunger will then move to seal the canister vent. The ability to seal the vent is necessary for the on board diagnosis of the evaporative emission control system. The vent valve is used only for diagnosis and usually remains opened. Vent valves are primarily replaced due to reasons like electronic solenoid failing due to water intrusion, it contaminates entering the system due to an O-ring failure causing the valve to stick. It is often the solenoid will not engage or it will engage but the pintle will not move its complete required path of travel. Its failure causes the check engine light to set with EVAP Code System that is small leak diagnosis.
