Directed by Czech master filmmaker Karel Zeman, "Off On A Comet" is his imagining of the classic Jules Verne novel. The visualization of the various monsters and warring tribes comes from the same creative force behind the charming "Fabulous World Of Jules Verne".

When a comet passes dangerously close to earth, it rips away a small part of North Africa with it. A French colony are at war with the local Arabs and both sides are swept up onto this new land. Faced with a hostile environment and threats extraterrestial, the two groups decide not to co-exist but to continue their warring ways. And then there's Angelika and the smitten soldier. Can their love overcome years a prejudice and fear ? Not to mention the bugs dinosaurs and dragons that are now their natural enemies.
