Product Description
It was where Roberto Clemente began his career with the Pittsburgh Pirates. It was where Bill Mazeroski hit his historic home run in the bottom of the ninth during the final game of the 1960 World Series. And it was the first home of the Pittsburgh Steelers. But on July 28, 1971, Forbes Field, which had earned the nickname The House of Thrills, was demolished.
Go back and remember all the good things that called Pittsburgh home over the years in this film, titled Things that Arent There Anymore when it aired on public television. Emmy-nominated host Rick Sebak takes you back to the original Isaly s, Westview Park and the old Allegheny Fair.
Good Memories: In Pittsburgh: Looking Back, go on a journey in the past in one of the citys beloved street cars, sit in the old movie houses, order up a Skyscraper Cone at the original Isaly s, or watch history being made during a Homestead Grays game.
House of Thrills: In the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, stood Forbes Field...at least until it was demolished in 1971. The third home to the Pittsburgh Pirates and the first home of the Steelers was built in just four short months in 1909, but it brought smiles to the faces of fans for many years. Go back in time with PA announcer Art McKennan as he recalls some of the best moments at Forbes Field.
Bonus! Includes host Rick Sebaks 2001 report on the implosion of Three Rivers Stadim.
