In the turbulent heartland of one-day racing, the fate of two top Belgian Classics hangs in the balance. Spanish star Juan Antonio Flecha knows every inch of Het Nieuwsblad's cobbled road to glory. In 2010, the doughty one-day veteran won it in spectacular style, alone at the finish line. In 2011, after ripping out of the pack, Flecha has only one, apparently slight, obstacle left between himself and a second straight victory: a little-known and inexperienced young Dutch rider. But Flecha is no longer as strong as he used to be and an intriguing duel ensues.
